INVENTION: Earmuffs

REASON BEHIND HIS INVENTION: Chester Greenwood was tired of wrapping his itchy scarf around his ears. He took two pieces of thin flexible wire into ear-shaped loops and asked his grandmother to sew pads of material onto the loops. That’s how the prototype for the modern earmuffs was invented.
2. MARGARET KNIGHT
INVENTION: flat-bottomed paper bag
Era: 19th Century
REASON BEHIND HER INVENTION: She used to work at a paper bag factory and noticed that the paper bag was small and week. She invented a machine to make them strong and big paper bags.
